Caitlyn Jenner Says ‘I’m the New Normal’ in First ‘I Am Cait’ Trailer
Caitlyn Jenner will document her new life as a transgender woman in the upcoming documentary series I Am Cait. The series, which will feature eight one-hour episodes, follows Jenner as she adapts to her transition as well as the impact it has on her family. “Put it this way, I’m the new normal,” Jenner says in the first look trailer of the series. I Am Cait premieres July 26th on E!
“So many people go through life and they never deal with their own issues, no matter what the issues are. Ours happen to be gender identity,” Jenner says in the I Am Cait trailer. “How many people go through life and just waste an entire life because they never deal with themself, to be who they are?” Jenner came out as a transgender woman during an emotional interview with Diane Sawyer in April.
In the preview for the series, Jenner also details how her perspective has changed after transitioning. “You start learning all of the pressure women are under all of the time about their appearance,” Jenner says. “I never had it until a couple weeks ago, actually a professional come in and do my makeup. What a difference.”
The I Am Cait trailer arrives days after Jenner appeared on the cover of Vanity Fair. “Caitlyn doesn’t have any secrets,” Jenner said in a video of that photo shoot. “As soon as the Vanity Fair cover comes out, I’m free.” That issue hits newsstands June 9th.
In addition to her new series, Jenner will also be on hand at the ESPY Awards on July 15th to receive the Arthur Ashe Courage Award. “I’m so happy after such a long struggle to be living my true self. Welcome to the world Caitlyn. Can’t wait for you to get to know her/me,” Jenner tweeted on her new account.
