Stewart and Colbert on the Ideal Republican Candidate
After hard-right conservative Rick Perry was booed by the Tea Party-heavy audience during Monday night’s debate for being insufficiently extreme on immigration, Jon Stewart and Daily Show political correspondent Al Madrigal get to wondering if “the Tea Party’s ideals are larger than one individual.” Is there any candidate who can satisfy them? Watch Stewart and Madrigal try to come up with Tea Party-friendly presidents in the clip below.
Meanwhile, Stephen Colbert has already found the perfect running mate for the GOP presidential nominee. Given the thunderous applause that greeted mention of Rick Perry’s prolific execution record, along with and the audience’s cheers for the death of a hypothetical man in a coma, it’s hard to think of a better fit for today’s Republican Party than … the Grim Reaper! “He’s got all the qualifications [Republicans] are looking for,” Colbert says. “He’s old and bone white, he’s packing a weapon, he’s got an incredible war record and, believe me, no one wants to get rid of Obamacare more than this guy.”
