Game On: Play Giant-Size Pac-Man Free Online
Disaffectedly playing Pac-Man in one’s online Web browser is already a time-honored tradition amongst office drones the world over. But thanks to the World’s Biggest Pac-Man, a giant-size version of the arcade retro gaming classic, it’s now a full-blown Internet obsession.
Created to promote Microsoft’s new Internet Explorer 9 browser, the HTML5-powered free online video game, which runs right in your Web browser, strings together hundreds of playable user-created levels. Displayed as a map of tiles, each of which represents a stage ready to load and entertain, you can choose which level to gleefully gobble pellets up or flee from rampaging cartoon ghosts on at will. Login with Facebook, and you can also build your own levels for others to play on.
Adding to its career-threatening potential are personal and global stats, which track the number of dots or ghosts eaten, lives lost and mazes created, played and completed. Case in point: As of press time, more than 503,066 unfortunate animated specters have been gobbled, 227,357 fatal endings for poor Pac-Man have been encountered and 3,307 mazes have been created the globe over.
Alpha types will be overjoyed to note that there are even country-specific stats provided. Unsurprisingly, 9-to-5 slackers in the U.S. hold a commanding lead over their counterparts in Spain and the U.K. Go, team!
