Up for ‘Review’: See a Clip From Comedy Central’s Wild New Show
“I’m a reviewer, but I don’t review food, books or movies,” says Forest MacNeil. “I review life itself!” MacNeil is the creation of comedian Andy Daly and the main character of Comedy Central’s latest show Review (which premiered last night at 10 p.m. EST), an everyman who gives star ratings to first-person experiences involving eating pancakes, racism and anything else his TV audience throws at him. Stealing, for example, only gets two stars; cocaine gets “a million stars!”

In this clip, MacNeil decides to review addiction, something he believes he’s completely impervious to. (“The only thing I am addicted to is a thirst for knowledge.”) He starts out trying coke, which he’s not impressed with and throws away. MacNeil then moves on to other famoulsy addictive substances — “cigarettes filled with tobacco” and “alcoholic wine” — before he thinks he’d better try that cocaine again just to be sure. Soon, the man whose “brain is too sturdy” to become addicted to anything is enthusiastically alphabetizing his books in the middle of night and gets really, really into his son’s boy-scout camping trip.
A former member of the New York’s Upright Citizens Brigade improv troupe and a featured player on Mad TV for two seasons, Daly is best known for playing Principal Terence Cutler on the HBO series Eastbound & Down. Review airs every Thursday night on Comedy Central at 10 p.m.
