‘Orange Is the New Black’ Releases First Scene From Season Two
Netflix has bestowed upon fans the first scene of Season Two of Orange Is the New Black (via Entertainment Weekly), offering fans a short, but exciting, look at what’s in store for Piper Chapman ahead of the show’s June 6th return.

The clip opens with Piper snoozing away in solitary confinement — most likely her punishment for beating up Pennsatucky at the Litchfield Christmas pageant — when she’s suddenly woken up by a guard telling her it’s time to get up and go. Along with reading and taking meticulous notes of her guards’ schedules, Piper has also passed the time by making wall paintings with her eggs (she hates cooked yolks): “This is a yellow warbler drinking out of a daffodil, she just cannot get enough,” she tells a confused, disgusted guard. “I’m calling it ‘Thirsty Bird.’ It’s almost done.”
The guard, however, says Piper won’t have the time to finish, telling her it’s time to go, though he won’t say why. “I need to know what’s going on,” Piper says as the clip ends.
Because this clip will leave you craving more, you can take a look at some of the locked-down craziness in store for the Litchfield inmates in this Season Two trailer. The trailer also offers a peak at Orange Is the New Black‘s new character, Vee (Lorraine Toussaint), who Red (Kate Mulgrew) knows from her past.
“[Creator] Jenji [Kohan] has written one of the more complex characters I’ve ever played, and probably one of the more difficult characters I’ve played,” Toussaint said. “I think it’ll be interesting seeing how this character is received, because Jenji has written a character that plays and enjoys the game, and is incredibly engaging and draws people into her — into the big game and has — I have a great deal of fun.”
