Katy Perry Joins ‘The Sims’
Lady Gaga may have her own Gagaville, so it’s no surprise that Katy Perry has jumped quickly on the competition. Yesterday, Electronic Arts announced an exclusive creative partnership that will have the Teenage Dream singer ear-worming her way to the world of The Sims.
The creative collaboration will span over several titles, the first of which will be a collector’s edition of the entertainment-themed extension pack, Showtime, to be released in March.
In the cotton candy-coated The Sims 3 Showtime: Katy Perry, players will be able to collect Katy Perry-themed virtual goods such as multicolored hairstyles and outlandish outfits, as well as perform on a virtual set inspired by Perry’s latest tour. An animated rendering of the pop star herself will also appear during game play.
“I always like to think of myself as a cartoon, and now I’m a Sim,” the singer said in a statement. Watch Perry make her Sim debut in this video.
As part of the collaboration, the self-proclaimed gamer will have to show her real face in the advertising and marketing for the new crop of role-playing games. The financial terms of the partnership were not disclosed, but considering The Sims 3 has sold more than 10 million copies worldwide while Perry has sold about a million more albums, it certainly is a lot more than ice cream change.
The Sims 3 Showtime: Katy Perry is now available for pre-order for $40.
