Threats and Sword Fights Permeate New ‘Game of Thrones’ Teaser
Ultimatums are given and gauntlets are thrown in the especially tense final trailer for the fourth season of Game of Thrones, which returns to HBO on April 6th.
“Sooner or later, Cersei [Lanister] always gets what she wants,” says Cersei’s brother Tyrion (Peter Dinklage), with a chilly conviction in one scene. In another scene, Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) raises the stakes of the show in a way that could affect everything in the season: “Let the priests argue over good and evil. They can live in my new world, or they can die in their old one.”
It hints at the future of Arya Stark (Maisie Williams), and gives a glimpse of what could be a new turn romantically for Jaime Lanister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau). But most of all it contains sword fights, fire and what looks like a mid-sized dragon trying to clear its throat. London Grammar’s cover of INXS’ “Devil Inside” plays throughout the clip.
Q&A: ‘Game of Thrones’ Actor Jason Momoa Follows ‘The Red Road’
HBO will premiere the first episode Thursday on a giant screen at Brooklyn’s Barclay’s Center for 7,000 fans. Billed as the “Epic Fan Experience” that includes photo ops with the show’s Iron Throne, it will likely serve as fodder for tens of thousands of spoiler tweets. But the two-and-a-half week gap between tonight and the show’s small-screen debut will leave enough room for other tweets to space out the spoilers. It’s not enough time, however, to get tonight’s revelers to change their profile pics from their Iron Throne selfies.
