Lil Wayne to Launch Skateboarding Brand, Trukfit
Lil Wayne’s choice of attire, whether for performance or play, generally causes a media sensation; the equal fascination and repulsion that surrounded his VMA leopard jeggings ensemble confirmed his ability to visually provoke. The rapper is no doubt banking on that shock potential to hype his own skateboard-oriented line, Trukfit, which he debuted this weekend at the Long Beach, California, branch of Agenda, a trade show noted for launching promising emerging brands. Vague details surrounding the line also trickled onto the web before the holidays.
In the latest edition of his “Weezy’s Sports Corner” web series, Lil Wayne cuts to the chase. “It will be the best clothing line ever,” he declared. Big promises aside, we still don’t know too many specifics about Trukfit, other than it will formally launch later this year “at a moderate price point” and that Weezy spent considerable time in 2011 immersing himself in skateboard culture in preparation for the venture. According to Agenda, Trukfit “was inspired by Lil Wayne’s passion for skateboarding and quality street wear” and “[pulls] influence from Lil Wayne’s distinctive style and voice.” Complex offers a glance of what that may entail with a Trukfit teaser gallery. When Agenda rolls into New York City later this month, Rolling Stone will offer a closer look.
