Drake’s O.V.O. x Roots ‘Take Care’ Jacket Made From Virgin Wool, Organic Buffalo Hide
As a widespread leak of Drake’s upcoming album Take Care flooded the web Saturday, the actor-turned-rapper’s limited edition run of varsity jackets for his clothing label, October’s Very Own, also hit stores. The jackets, based on the the customized one Drake wore on his own Away From Home tour, are being produced in partnership with Canadian leather goods manufacturer Roots. For $500, the jacket comes in either all black or a red and white colorway, and is emblazoned with Take Care lyrics as well as the O.V.O. logo.
Roots co-founder Michael Budman calls Drake’s jacket “the finest” his company has ever produced, and shared exclusive details of its construction with Rolling Stone. “Drake demands the best,” he says, calling the rapper a “pleasure to work with.” Drake’s high quality barometer meant that the O.V.O x Roots jacket received particular fine attention to detail: its body is made from 42 ounce virgin wool (sourced from Quebec), organic buffalo hide, and is embellished with “intricate creasting” and special Swiss zippers. Budman hints that future collaborations with with Drake and O.V.O. are in the works, and describes the rapper as “doing great things for Canada.”
