Lady Gaga’s Little Sister to Design Costumes for Off-Broadway Show
Lady Gaga is an inevitable mainstay on fashion’s radar, but she may have to get used to sharing the style spotlight. WWD recently announced that Natali Germanotta, a.k.a. “Baby Gaga,” will create costumes for a new off-Broadway show, Simon Says, slated to premiere this fall.
Currently enrolled in Parsons School of Design’s intensive fashion design program, whose alumni include Prabal Gurung, Alexander Wang, and Marc Jacobs, Germanotta has made her career hopes known for over a year. She was on the style track even before she made a cameo in sunglasses and leather in her sister’s man-scorching “Telephone” video massacre co-starring Beyoncé. In 2010, Natali served as an intern to designer Allison Parris, and was praised for her dedication and disciplined work ethic. This year, she emerged a little further from the nest, and accompanied Gaga to the CFDA awards, where the two memorably posed as a powerful duo for the paparazzi. The pop star wore a blue wig; the designer-in-training styled her own raven mane into a ponytail. In a sisterly flourish, both dramatized their brows and lipstick.
No word yet on whether Natali will design for her sister, but with the Haus of Gaga’s collaborative spirit in mind, it’s a thoroughly plausible outcome.
