‘Broad City’ Gets Paid to a Drake Track
Remember Hype Williams’ crazy, fisheye-lensed music video for Missy Elliott’s “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)“? Broad City‘s Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson do, and they’ve gleefully paid homage in the opening of their latest episode. Depositing a check for “eight f**king thousand dollars,” Glazer and Jacobson strut into their local bank branch as Drake‘s “Started From the Bottom” plays, instantly turning the lobby into a slo-mo bumpin’ and grindin’ party. (The teller freaking the window is a nice touch.) The best part? Glazer is done up in a Nicki Minaj blonde wig, while Jacobson rocks the blown-up, black garbage bag suit from Missy’s “Rain” video. Both Upright Citizens Brigade alumna, Glazer and Jacobson started Broad City as a Web series before attracting the attention of UCB co-founder Amy Poehler. The Parks and Recreation star helped the duo land a series deal on Comedy Central, and their first season has become a breakout hit for the channel. You can see new episodes every Wesdnesday night at 10:30pm.
