Top Toy: Candy-Painted Loudspeakers Rock the House
Electronics manufacturer Monster, known for high-end A/V cables and headphones (e.g. its Beats by Dr. Dre line), is hoping to make noise in the high-end home audio market with its new ClarityHD Model One loudspeakers.
Selling for $749.95, the cumbersomely-titled ClarityHD Model One High Definition Multi-Media Speaker Monitor will feature 6.5-inch bass drivers and 4-layer voice coils which reputedly deliver smoother highs and more resonant low-end tones. Designed for use on bookshelves, and capable of blisteringly high volume levels, units will also feature an iPod dock, mini-jack input, ¼-inch TRS input, RCA input and connections for numerous additional audio and video sources.
In addition to digital music players, computers and smartphones, the speakers are connectable with professional DJ and audio recording gear, a plus for amateur or professional musicians. Add-ons which enable devices to connect with wireless Bluetooth connection will also be sold separately.
Curiously, candy paint jobs are included with purchase. The speakers will be offered in “automotive-grade gloss yellow and red,” presumably to match your Ferrari, with more colors coming this fall. Clearly aimed at audiophiles, ClarityHD Model One units will begin shipping in mid-July.
