Logitech Tablet Speaker Turns Your iPad Into a Boombox
Aimed at giving tablet PC users’ digital music collections more volume and party-starting potential, Logitech’s new clip-on Tablet Speaker for iPad hopes to turn Apple’s slate computer into a portable boombox.
As obvious an attachment as audiophiles can find, and one that arguably should have shipped long before summer, the accessory, capable of outputting stereo sound, snaps right onto your iOS device via a rubberized clip. Promising roughly eight hours of battery life, once it’s charged via USB connection and a 3.5mm audio cable connected to the gadget’s headphone jack, music and movies can all be blasted for multiple listeners’ enjoyment. While middling volume levels and limited durability make it best reserved for casual everyday use than impromptu raves or international travel, sonic output far exceeds built-in acoustic levels.
Retailing for $49.99, the gizmo also comes with a travel case, and doubles as a portable stand, should the urge to catch up on reruns of The Bachelorette or play Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery strike. Mind-blowing the accessory isn’t, but as the backdrop for dorm room study sessions or home sing-alongs with Odd Future’s latest jingle, it’ll still have technophiles whistling a happy tune.
