Preview: Beth Ditto Partners With MAC for Makeup Line
Gossip frontwoman Beth Ditto is one of fashion’s favorite musical trailblazers, with an unconventional dress size and unique wardrobe sensibilities that have propelled her to cult status. She’s walked on catwalks, graced high fashion covers, and is a favorite muse to many young design talents. Now she’s taking on the world of cosmetics in her own ambassador role with MAC. In June, she’ll launch a capsule collection for the line, following in the collaborative footsteps of Lady Gaga, Cyndi Lauper and Nicki Minaj.
We witnessed a preview of this burgeoning partnership last September, when Ditto rocked Soho’s MAC store with an intimate performance for Fashion’s Night Out. After performing covers of Madonna’s “Vogue” and Dolly Parton’s “Jolene,” Ditto told Rolling Stone that “cholas” were a current makeup inspiration for her. Majorly lined lips and dramatic skinny brows defined her look that evening, and the singer combining the urban influence with a colorful panache borrowed from Kylie Minogue’s Pierrot phase.
Want a preview of the adventurous aesthetic she’s bringing to MAC? The company won’t reveal the full range of looks and products until later, but check out the preview for yourself.
