See Bill Hader’s ‘Star Wars’ Impressions
Bill Hader made an excellent case as to why J.J. Abrams should tap him for the upcoming Star Wars reboot, showcasing a few of his outrageous intergalactic impressions on Conan last night. The former Saturday Night Live star cracked that he’d already cornered Abrams about a job, telling the director, “I can do whatever you want. I can do anything. I can do Jabba the Hutt dying.” After which, Hader proceeded to do just that, joking, “I’ve been working on that since the third grade.”

A common theme runs through Hader’s impressions – they all involve a character dying (wait until he sells his version of a Tauntaun meeting its ultimate demise). And as Hader points out, much to his agent’s dismay, he’s way more interested in scoring a role as some creature’s voice than being the next Han Solo.
While Hader may have his work cut out for him, the comedian’s first big film project since leaving SNL recently debuted at Sundance: The Skeleton Twins finds Hader in a more serious role, playing Milo, a suicidal gay man who’s reunited with his estranged fraternal twin sister, played by fellow SNL alum Kristen Wiig.

“I get a lot of comedic scripts, but I thought, ‘You know, it would be interesting to try something different,'” Hader recently told Rolling Stone. “It’s kind of instinctual. It’s like dating: you hang out with someone and you think, ‘Eh, no, I’m not going to call this person back.’ Or, ‘Oh, this is nice. I like the way this makes me feel. I hope this person calls me. I hope they want to hang out more.'”
As for Abrams’ Star Wars reboot, there’s still no information about who will star in the new films, or if anyone who auditioned during the film’s open casting calls landed a role – though we do know that everyone’s favorite droid R2-D2 will appear. Abrams recently assumed co-writing duties for Star Wars: Episode VII with Lucasfilm vet Lawrence Kasdan, and shooting will begin this spring at Pinewood Studios outside of London. The movie is scheduled to open in theaters on December 18th, 2015.
