Liv Tyler Collaborates With Dave Sitek on Song for Givenchy Ad
Crossover ambitions are running high in the Tyler bloodline. Aerosmith frontman Steven recently served as the stylish muse to clothing line Andrew Charles and now his actress daughter, Liv, is using her prominence in the fashion world as a platform for music.
Tyler has served as the exclusive spokesmodel for Givenchy’s Very Irrésistible fragrance since 2003. She has starred in many ads for the luxury brand and, according to WWD, she’s taking that role to the next level by recording and performing a song for her next commercial.
Calling Tyler’s crossover endeavor “an electrifying meeting between the world of rock and the universe of perfume,” Givenchy will be partnering with Sony Music Entertainment on the project. They are aligning the right sonic troops in the studio, too: the fashion house has enlisted none other than TV on the Radio guitarist and producer Dave Sitek (who has also produced albums for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Liars) to helm the track, which is rumored to be a cover of a popular song.
This may be the closest that Tyler has come to tracing her rock star dad’s footsteps, but it’s not the first time that she has sung publicly. As Tolkien fans may recall, the actress performed “Arwen’s Song,” which was included on the soundtrack of 2003’s The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. Sitek also has experience transforming famous actresses into torch singers: he produced Scarlett Johansson’s Anywhere I Lay My Head in 2008.
