Prince Sends ‘Letter-Bearing Clone’ to Herald ‘Arsenio’ Appearance
Prince will perform on Arsenio next Wednesday and chat with host Arsenio Hall about what he has in store for the future. To announce it, he sent a purple velvet-clad female clone as his envoy to the show. Hall feigned confusion during a show earlier this week when his band mysteriously began playing “Let’s Go Crazy” and a mute dopplegänger ambled in and gave the host an envelope with a piece of purple paper inside.

The letter, which Hall read, said, “Welcome back to late night. You have truly been missed. Please give my letter-bearing clone a hug and a pound. I’ll wait.” Hall hugs and pounds the twin and even tells her she smells good. The letter continues, “So here’s why I’m writing you: The Arsenio Hall Show has always been so welcoming to us in the past, and we wanted to return that favor.” Prince offers to “bring the whole crew over,” and even assures Hall, “Just in case you haven’t heard, I’ve been practicing and I’ve gotten pretty good now.”
After confirming the Purple One’s appearance, Hall sends the messenger backstage to put the letter in his dressing room. “Thank you, clone,” he says.
Prince, as of late, has been enjoying using clones in his stead. A female lookalike appeared in his recent “Breakfast Can Wait” video, a 30-second trailer for his Breakfast Experience release and the cover of his album.
