Obama Offered ‘House of Cards’ Role
Netflix CEO Reed Hastings tried to lock down a massive cameo for the streaming service’s hit show, House of Cards today: President Barack Obama. As Deadline reports, Hastings was in Washington, D.C. today to discuss the messy Obamacare website and the government’s security surveillance programs when Obama asked Hastings if he brought advanced copies of House of Cards‘ upcoming second season.

Hastings immediately jumped on the opportunity, offering Obama the chance to appear on the show, which stars Kevin Spacey as the brilliant, conniving politician, Frank Underwood. Though the President chuckled, he certainly didn’t offer a firm yes – or no, for that matter – though he did crack, “I wish things were that ruthlessly efficient” before marveling at how much Spacey’s character can get done in D.C. You can watch a short clip of their silly exchange above, which took place during a photo op.

House of Cards is set to return to Netflix on February 14th and the second season’s new trailer promises all sorts of malicious political chess as Underwood assumes his role as Vice President while trying to stave off those digging into his sordid past, particularly journalist Zoe Barnes (Kate Mara).
