Kiss Fire Up ‘The Tonight Show’
Kiss may have disappointed some fans (including Stevie Nicks) when they didn’t perform at Thursday’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, but the band did their best to make up for it with a pyrotechnics-filled spectacle on The Tonight Show Friday night.

The band took the stage in full regalia, with the current line-up including Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer, to perform “King of the Night Time World,” from 1976’s Destroyer. For additional web exclusives, they went on to rock “Black Diamond,” “Deuce,” and a medley of “Hotter Than Hell” and “Firehouse.”
The lead-up to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was marked by in-fighting among the original members, but Kiss managed to pull it together for a peaceful reunion as they accepted their award on Thursday night. “This is a profound moment for all of us,” Gene Simmons said in his speech. “I’m here to say a few kind words about the four knuckleheads who, 40 years ago, got together and decided to put together the kind of band we never saw onstage, critics be damned.”
Kiss had at least one mega-fan at the Tonight Show studios. The Roots’ Questlove spoke to Rolling Stone Thursday about his lifelong love for the band. “My greatest story in my book Mo’ Meta Blues is how I met these guys at the age of seven,” he said. “I was obsessed with them.”
