Alex Trebek Raps on ‘Jeopardy’
Move over Drake, Canada’s got a hot new MC dropping all sorts of fire and more “What”s than Noreaga on “Superthug”: Alex Trebek grabbed the mic last night on Jeopardy! and rhymed his way through the pun-tasticly titled category, “It’s A Rap.” You can check out the entire segment now, in which Trebek lends the dulcet timbre of his voice to famous lines from cuts by Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five (“The Message”), Notorious B.I.G. (“Juicy”), the Beastie Boys (“No Sleep ‘Til Brooklyn”), Dr. Dre (“Nuthin’ But A G Thang”) and Public Enemy (“Timebomb).”
Trebek showcased his myriad of flows and flavors, like a signature angular drawl on the “No Sleep” line “Another plane / Another train / Another bottle in the brain,” while he put suckers to shame with his unmistakable annunciation skills, hitting all the “L”‘s with professorial pomp on “G Thang’s” tongue-twister, “Never let me slip ’cause if I slip then I’m slippin’.”
“I don’t know why that’s making you laugh so much,” Trebek cracked after contestant Mary closed out the category.
