Snoop Dogg Reveals Pharrell-Produced Album ‘Bush’
Snoop Dogg has been teasing a new Pharrell Williams-produced album for a few months now, and at the Omnicom Media Group panel during the CES Expo in Las Vegas this week, the rapper finally revealed that the latest collaboration with his “Drop It Like It’s Hot” cohort will be titled Bush. Snoop – rapping under his own name for the first time since 2011’s Doggumentary – added that the LP should be out by March.
According to the Rap-Up, Snoop Dogg also informed the panel that the album will be entirely produced by the “Happy” singer, and that Stevie Wonder and the Gap Band’s Charlie Wilson would make guest appearances. Bush will be released through Williams’ I Am Other label, which inked Snoop to a deal this past October.
“It’s a great record me and Pharrell did from top to bottom,” Snoop told MTV News last year. “It feels good and I’m happy to be back in the studio working with one of my favorite producers and homeboys. It’s different – it’s completely different than anything we’ve ever done. It feels good, sounds good, looks good.”
“Snoop’s album is better than mine,” Pharrell told Power 106 in Los Angeles back in June (via Hip Hop DX), comparing the album to his own Grammy-nominated Girl. “It’s Snoop Dogg. You’re gonna bug out from the approach of what we did. We’re almost done. The songs are done. Now I’m just adding the finishing touches.” Pharrell also hinted at a theme to the album but wouldn’t give up any additional information.
“If I say the references, I’ll just give it away,” Williams said. “I’m so proud of Snoop. It’s so jammin’. It’s one of those things where it’s so obvious that you kind of overlook it. It’s so obvious.”
