Rush Debut DVD From String-Heavy ‘Clockwork Angels’ Tour – Premiere
When Rush hit the road last year to support their new album, Clockwork Angels, they decided to do something they’d never done before: invite additional musicians onto their stage. The new material had been recorded with a string section, and they wanted to do the album justice by bringing an eight-piece string ensemble on the road.
The tour – which featured a ton of 1980s tunes the band hadn’t played in ages – was a huge success, and they recorded a show in Dallas for a DVD and CD that hits shelves on November 19th. Rush’s Geddy Lee Dives Into the Band’s Video Timeline
The tour wrapped in early August, and the band is now on a well-deserved break – even though their management was interested in putting together a 40th anniversary tour in 2014. “That’s not going to happen, though,” Geddy Lee told Rolling Stone in September. “My attitude is that as much as I’d like to celebrate 40 years, we need a break more than we need a 40th anniversary celebration. There’s nothing wrong with celebrating 42 years.”
