Broken Social Scene and Feist Reunite on ‘Fallon’
Broken Social Scene‘s reunion performance this weekend at the 10th anniversary celebration of their record label has been called a one-off affair. But that’s not quite right: The Canadian indie-rock collective reconvened, with breakout member Feist, a couple days early to perform on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.

The band fairly leapt into “Almost Crimes,” jangling guitar notes falling around a thick bassline as Feist and Kevin Drew shared vocals and generally bopped around and bassist Brendan Canning executed a pretty sweet leg kick. The band stuck around to play “7/4 Shoreline,” on which Feist and Drew locked in harmonies over a speedy beat before she took the lead and Drew and the three other guitarists onstage punctuated her vocals with stabs of guitar that led into a searing solo.
Broken Social Scene and Feist perform Saturday at Field Trip, the Arts & Craft 10th anniversary celebration, in Toronto. And what’s next after that for the collective, which has been on hiatus since 2011? Drew was circumspect about the group’s future in an interview with Rolling Stone this week, but he seemed enthused by the end of their Fallon performance. “That was fun,” he said. “Let’s do it again.”
