Moby and Wayne Coyne Live ‘The Perfect Life’
Moby and Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne have offered up a teaser video for “The Perfect Life,” a collaborative effort that will appear on the electronic musician’s upcoming LP, Innocents, out September 30th. The single will see official release on September 10th, and the video will premiere on the 3rd.
Moby: Behind the Scenes Shooting ‘The Perfect Life’ Video
A few weeks back, Moby announced a casting call on his website for “The Perfect Life” video, asking for “a drunk king,” an “S&M gimp rhythmic gymnast,” eight rollerskating ghosts, a punk rock brass band and “20 random partygoers who are comfortable with nudity.” Based on the preview clip, it looks like they got exactly what they wanted. In the teaser, Moby and Coyne, dressed as mariachis, lead this cadre of peculiar characters – including the king himself, plenty of flower children and a sombrero-wearing burlesque dancer – in a rousing, impromptu and adorably sloppy acoustic version of the sunny new track.
Innocents marks the first time Moby has worked with an outside producer, Mark “Spike” Stent (who has also worked with U2, Madonna and Björk), and Coyne isn’t the only big name to appear on the LP. In fact, Moby made collaborations a centerpiece of the record, which also features help from Mark Lanegan, Skylar Grey, Cold Specks, Damien Jurado and Inyang Bassey.
Moby has also announced three live shows to support Innocents, all of which will take place at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles on October 2nd, 3rd and 4th.
