Jack White Is Working on New Dead Weather Material
Jack White‘s next musical endeavor may not be a follow-up to his successful solo album Blunderbuss, but instead, regrouping with the Dead Weather. White’s label Third Man Records tweeted a photo of the band in Nashville today saying that the rockers were in the studio yesterday working on new songs.

While this photo suggests that sessions are taking place, the band has been on White’s mind for awhile. Earlier this year, he told Rolling Stone that they’ve been spending a lot of time together both in and out of the studio. “All the Raconteurs and all the Dead Weather live in Nashville now, so we often go on trips together, because we’re all just good pals. We’ve recorded some things, too,” he said.
The Dead Weather is a blues-rock supergroup of sorts, that includes Alison Mosshart from the Kills as the lead singer, Queens of the Stone Age‘s Dean Fertita on lead guitar, the Raconteurs‘ Jack Lawrence on bass and White primarily playing drums. The band’s released two albums together, the last being 2010’s Sea of Cowards and they toured extensively around them. In the last few years, they’ve remained dormant due to each member returning to their “day job” bands.

But that’s not that surprising, as the previous records came together rather quickly and spontaneously. “Our things pick their place for us,” White said. “We don’t really sit down and pick them. Like, the Kills make a record or Queens of the Stone Age makes a record, I make a record, and it all falls into place, you know? Like, we didn’t know we were going to do two Dead Weather records in a row. We didn’t have any plan at all.”
