Meet New, Peculiar Characters at ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’
Wes Anderson‘s upcoming film, The Grand Budapest Hotel, centers around a mysterious death and a valuable painting. As if you’d expect any less from Anderson, the film is packed with an ensemble cast of peculiar characters portrayed by top actors. Its new trailer offers a quick look at Anderson’s latest cast of oddballs led by Ralph Fiennes, who stars as M. Gustave H., the concierge of the titular hotel, who is bequeathed the painting Boy With Apple after its former owner, Madame D., passes away. (Tilda Swinton, in a stunning white wig, plays that benefactor.)
As The Grand Budapest Hotel‘s first trailer showed, Madame D.’s son, Dimitri Desgoffe-und-Taxis (Adrien Brody), attempts to frame Gustave for her murder not just because of the painting but a one-night stand they shared, too. To help clear his name, and keep the painting away from Dimitri, Gustave seeks out the help of his trusted lobby boy, Zero Moustafa (Tony Revolori), and the object of his affection, Agatha (Saoirse Ronan).

The new trailer, however, suggests that more mysteries are afoot at The Grand Budapest Hotel. As we see, Jeff Goldblum’s character, Deputy Kovak, is on the hunt for an unknown object and ends up killed in the Kunstmuseum. Edward Norton’s Inspector Henckels must track down the killer; meanwhile, Mathieu Amalric plays Serge X., a refugee on the run from the men who slaughtered his entire family and Willem Dafoe takes a menacing turn as the intimidating J.G. Jopling.
The trailer also offers quick peeks at Owen Wilson’s M. Chuck, Harvey Keitel’s tatted-up inmate Ludwig and – of course – Bill Murray as M. Ivan. Ultimately, it leaves plenty of questions unanswered. The Grand Budapest Hotel premieres in February at the opening night of the Berlin Film Festival and will arrive in theaters on March 7th, 2014.
