Katy Perry Streams ‘Prism’ Before Release
Katy Perry is letting fans hear Prism early: the singer is streaming her new album on her website a few days ahead of the official October 22nd release. The album, Perry’s fourth LP (including her 2001 debut as Katy Hudson), is the follow-up to her massive 2010 hit Teenage Dream.
‘Prism’ and 25 More Must-Hear Albums This Fall
The 13-track album (with three extra songs on the deluxe edition) includes “Roar,” the empowering first single that Perry performed under the Brooklyn Bridge during the MTV Video Music Awards, along with “Walking on Air” and “Unconditionally,” which will be the next single. The album, which features production by Dr. Luke and Max Martin, Stargate and Benny Blanco, includes contributions from rapper Juicy J and Perry’s boyfriend, John Mayer, who co-wrote the bonus track “Spiritual.”
In addition to posting Prism early, Perry announced last night on Twitter that the first 300,000 copies of the deluxe version of the album will be come in a “limited edition iridescent package” that will include seed paper that fans “can plant to spread the light.”
Perry appeared last weekend as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live, where she performed “Roar” and “Walking on Air.” She sang the former on an elaborate stage set made to look like a jungle, and wrapped herself in metallic fabric on the latter while surrounded by a troupe of white-clad dancers.
