Telltale is known for the character-driven, interactive storytelling of its episodic series such as The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us. Although the studio hasn’t yet disclosed which characters or storylines will be featured in its Game of Thones adaptation, plans for the new game seem to be in keeping with the award-winning formula of its earlier works. “We’ll be taking advantage of all the fiction to make something great,” Telltale CEO Dan Connors said during the announcement at the awards show, according to The Verge. “We’re just really getting into it right now and thinking about characters – who has the most at stake, who has the biggest impact on the world.”
The game is being developed in partnership with HBO, and its 30-second trailer reveals the aesthetic influence of the TV show. There’s no word yet to which platforms the game is in development for.
Meanwhile, the fourth season of Game of Thrones is set to return to HBO this spring.
