Bruce Springsteen Books Final ‘Wrecking Ball’ Dates
Bruce Springsteen fans hoping to catch another show on the Wrecking Ball tour better start booking flights to South America. The Springsteen camp just announced a show in Buenos Aires on September 14th. It’s one of four South American dates next month, culminating with a set at the Rock in Rio fest in Brazil on September 24th. According to a press release and a post on Springsteen’s website, these are the “final” dates on the tour.
The Wrecking Ball tour launched in Atlanta on March 18th, 2012, and played to packed stadiums and arenas across America and Europe throughout the rest of the year. When Springsteen and Co. picked up this year, the tour only went to Australia and Europe. Simply stated, Springsteen draws larger crowrds in Europe than in the U.S.A. He played to capacity crowds at soccer stadiums across Europe in the summer of 2012, and did it again this summer.

“It’s fascinating,” Springsteen told Rolling Stone in June. “We played in Naples. It was only the second time I’ve played in southern Italy. We were about 30 minutes from where I’m actually from, Vico Equense [where Springsteen’s maternal grandfather was born]. I’m only one full generation away from these people I’m playing to. And they were incredible, not hidden at all. There is an emotional openness that is rare in the States.”
Springsteen’s future plans are unclear, though he recently told Rolling Stone that he cut new songs while on tour in Australia earlier this year. “We’ve never had a recording session during a tour in our lives,” he said. “We did a couple of things that I wanted to put down. So that was very exciting. And being with Tommy [Morello] was exciting. The band – Steven, Nils, all those guys – continues to be a source of inspiration for me.”
