The Wanted’s Nathan Sykes Sheds Eurodance for Lounge on New Track
Nathan Sykes of the Wanted has stepped out of the club and into the lounge on his debut solo track “More Than You’ll Ever Know.” The sultry R&B-tinged track is now available as a free download. The 21-year-old’s new sound is a far cry from his band’s Eurodance vibe, which came across on some of their biggest singles like “Glad You Came” and “Chasing the Sun.”
Sykes’ as-yet-untitled debut album is set to be released later this year, with an official first single arriving later this spring. On the LP, the pop star collaborated with Babyface, Diane Warren and British producer-songwriter Harmony Samuels.
Previously, Sykes had worked with Samuels on “Almost is Never Enough,” his duet with ex-girlfriend Ariana Grande off Grande’s 2013 debut Yours Truly. “He really helped me create the sound and he’s now the executive producer on the album,” Sykes told Hunger TV when he announced his solo career earlier this year.
The youngest member of the Wanted is the first to step out on his own following the UK boy band’s hiatus last year. Prior to the announcement, the band had released their third album, Word of Mouth, and starred in the E! reality series The Wanted Life. The show chronicled the band recording their third album alongside Sykes’ throat surgery to remove a nodule from his vocal cords.
