The Strypes Burn Through ‘Mystery Man’ Live – Premiere
Irish rockers the Strypes recently released their debut album, Snapshot, to rave reviews in the U.K. and covered the Beatles’ “Come Together” for a high-profile Harley-Davidson campaign, and they’ve got plans to bring their rowdy pub-rock to the States in the near future. That doesn’t mean you have to wait for their big riffs, though; now you can take an exclusive first look at a live clip of the band playing “Mystery Man,” a ready-to-rumble anthem, during a homecoming show in Dublin.

According to Strypes drummer Evan Walsh, “Mystery Man” came from a lyric and melody that guitarist-singer Josh McClorey was tossing around in his head and a guitar riff that Walsh had created. “It quickly became our opener and also seemed just right to open the album. We feel it showcases what the band is all about: hard, fast rhythm-and-blues and Ross [Farrelly] and Josh’s voices blend so well,” Walsh tells Rolling Stone. “The Dublin show was our first Irish gig in quite awhile so we were quite nervous about how it would go. We were delighted that it sold out and that the crowd gave us such a great reception. It’s what we love and do best, playing live, and we can’t wait to bring the show to the States.”
