Sleeper Agent Ride Private Apocalypse on ‘Waves’ – Song Premiere
Acclaimed indie troupe Sleeper Agent is back with a new single, the buoyant “Waves,” which comes from an upcoming, as yet untitled second album due in early 2014. A rhythmic undercurrent propels the hook-injected song, which debuts here and is the Kentucky group’s first new number since its well-received 2011 Mom + Pop debut, Celebrasion.
Band to Watch: Sleeper Agent Make Hook-Filled, Hormone-Fueled Garage-Rock
“Waves is ultimately about a private apocalypse,” Sleeper Agent‘s Tony Smith tells Rolling Stone. “It’s about closing chapters of the past and watching all you knew crumble before you.”
In advance of its next album and first through RCA, Sleeper Agent will hit the road early next year with New Politics and Magic Man for a five week North Americanr. That trek that gets underway on January 14th at the Warehouse in Houston and conclude at the Troubadour in Los Angeles on February 19th.
Rolling Stone readers ranked Sleeper Agent at Number Two in the Best New Band category in 2012 in the Readers Poll and singer Alex Kandel was previously nominated for the “Women Who Rock” contest that same year. The band has shared the stage with acts including Weezer, fun., Grouplove and Young the Giant.
