Red Fang Battle Boozing Zombies in ‘Blood Like Cream’
The video for “Blood Like Cream,” off Red Fang‘s third LP, Whales and Leeches, begins with Portlandia‘s Fred Armisen running into the band’s local bar and frantically explaining that zombies are on the attack. The band themselves seem unconcerned until they learn that the zombies aren’t the kind that want to eat brains. It’s worse: they’re the kind that want to drink all the beer.

The band immediately start pounding cans (to build up their strength, obviously) before the zombies break in, and battle ensues. Meanwhile, the band provide the soundtrack to combat. Chunky riffs equally influenced by Motörhead, Black Sabbath and Helmet roar in the background while vocalist Aaron Beam bellows out a call to arms: “Cut it up! Cut it up! Cut it up!”
“This song is about the stress of balancing a touring lifestyle with having a family back home, but who wants to see a video about that?” Beam says. “Boring! Instead, we have a video featuring lots of blood, beer, and exercise – some of us did more running in this video that we’ve done the whole year to date!”
Whales and Leeches was released in October, and the band will make their late-night TV debut on The Late Show with David Letterman on January 10th. You can also catch them on the road through April. “Blood Like Cream” was directed by Whitey McConnaughy.
