Tedeschi Trucks Band ‘Kick the Door Down’ on ‘Made Up Mind’ – Premiere
Inspired by the cover art to Made Up Mind, the second studio album from the Tedeschi Trucks Band, this animated clip for the record’s title song is one of the more creative lyric videos in recent memory. Balancing images of a buffalo and a steam train on a collision course, this soulful, blues-rock ode to determination gives vintage Bonnie Raitt a run for her money.
“‘Made Up Mind‘ was one of the first things we wrote for this record,” Derek Trucks tells Rolling Stone. “We were working with Oliver Wood, and as soon as we finished the song, we had it in mind as a lead-off track and a title track for the album. It kicks the door down on this record, musically as well as the sentiment of the song. It’s a great band statement. When you find something that you believe in, you just dig down and go for it.”
Preceded by the album’s first single, “Part of Me,” TTB’s latest was penned by vocalist-guitarist Susan Tedeschi and her guitarist husband, Trucks, along with Wood. Tedeschi has called it “an empowerment song.”
Made Up Mind, released August 20th, is the follow-up to 2011’s Grammy Award-winning Revelator and last year’s live offering, Everybody’s Talkin’. The 10-piece band recorded it at Tedeschi and Trucks’ own Swamp Raga Studios in Jacksonville, Florida with co-producer Jim Scott (Johnny Cash, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Wilco).
