GoldenboyZ Remix Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. – Song Premiere
Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr.‘s “If You Didn’t See Me (Then You Weren’t on the Dancefloor)” shifts from whispered, disarming quiet to arpeggio-heavy explosions in a heartbeat, but the Detroit-centric collective GoldenBoyZ wanted to give the dance anthem a glitchier, more soulful sheen. The remixers opt for hazy layers of rich vocal samples and playful synth bleeps, and you can check out the premiere here.

GoldenboyZ knew the song well already, as Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr.’s Josh Epstein is one of their members, too. “About a year ago, GoldenboyZ came together as a mostly-Detroit based collective of musicians, producers and writers working together on multiple fronts,” Epstein tells Rolling Stone. “The first bits from those interactions are starting to make their way into the world just now.” Epstein notes the strong reception they’ve already received from crowds. “We started playing this mix into our DJ sets about two months ago,” he says, “and it lights the room up every time.”
“If You Didn’t See Me (Then You Weren’t on the Dancefloor)” will be on Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr.’s next album, The Speed of Things, out October 8th.
