Chris Brown Checks in to Rehab
Chris Brown has decided to go to rehab. His revelation comes two days after he pleaded not guilty to punching a man in Washington, D.C., in the face, according to The Associated Press. The singer, who is still on probation for physically assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009, could face jail time as a result of the arrest. Brown’s lawyer, Mark Geragos, stated Tuesday night that the singer had checked into a rehab facility to receive treatment for anger issues.

“Chris Brown has elected to enter a rehab facility,” a statement from Brown’s rep said. “His goal is to gain focus and insight into his past and recent behavior, enabling him to continue the pursuit of his life and his career from a healthier vantage point.”
“He just decided he wanted to take some time off and do some introspection,” Geragos said. He also added that Brown’s decision to go to rehab does not acknowledge any wrongdoing in the D.C. case.
The singer’s need for introspection comes on the heels of his arrest in Washington early Sunday morning after he and his bodyguard allegedly broke the nose of a man who was asking for a photo with Brown. When the police questioned the singer, he claimed he was on his tour bus during the incident and put the blame on his bodyguard. Nevertheless, Brown was charged with a felony assault, a charge that was later reduced to misdemeanor assault.
If convicted, Brown faces up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine. A conviction might also undo the 1,400 hours of community service he’d been carrying out as a result of assaulting Rihanna. If prosecutors in Los Angeles determine that the singer has violated his probation, Brown could serve up to four years in prison.
