Drake Fires Future From Upcoming Tour: Report
Drake has allegedly booted rapper Future from his upcoming “Would You Like a Tour?” trek after Future offered a lukewarm review of Drake’s new album in a conversation with Billboard. According to the New York Post, Drizzy was so incensed by Future’s comments about Nothing Was the Same that he demanded the rapper be removed from the tour. Then, when negotiating Future’s possible return to outing, Drake asked the rapper to take a pay cut. Future declined and is now said to be planning a lawsuit against Drake for lost wages, which come to $40,000 per show or a little over $1.5 million total.

Future made his comments to Billboard associate editor Erika Ramierz when he stopped by her office on October 4th to play her his forthcoming record, Honest. She quoted him as saying, “Drake made an album that is full of hits, but it doesn’t grab you. They’re not possessive; they don’t make you feel the way I do.” She also tweeted that Future widened his scope and claimed, “I’ve been on the songs of all these rappers that put out an album, and my music is still better.”
Future’s manager reportedly tried to argue that the quotes were meant to be off the record and were taken out of context. The New York Post reported that Billboard edited the story to remove the quotes online, though Ramirez didn’t delete her tweets. Billboard commented, “We regret that miscommunication surrounding Future’s recent visit, one that seemed clear to us was on the record, may have caused any trouble for the artist.”
The tour, which saw about a dozen dates pushed back last month, is scheduled to kick off Friday in Pittsburgh. Miguel will still be supporting Drake, and a replacement for Future has yet to be announced.
