Arcade Fire Play Secret Show in Montreal
Arcade Fire adopted the name of their new single and upcoming album when they played an intimate last-minute concert yesterday as the Reflektors at the Salsatheque in their hometown of Montreal, CBC News reports.
About 100 tickets, priced at just $9, were reportedly available for the Reflektors’ gig, which also had a unique dress code: “Formal attire or costume MANDATORY. (Formal wear = suit, dress or something fancy),” read a tweet from Arcade Fire. Below, you can watch a video of the band arriving at the venue and greeting fans while decked out in the ginormous heads they donned in the “Reflektor” video directed by Dutch filmmaker Anton Corbjin.
Inside the Making of Arcade Fire’s Interactive “Reflektor” Video
The surprise show capped off a busy day for Arcade Fire. After plenty of teasing, the indie-rockers finally released “Reflektor,” a thumping, nearly eight-minute opus produced by former LCD Soundsystem mastermind James Murphy and featuring guest vocals from David Bowie. The song was also accompanied by two music videos, one from Corbjin, the other an interactive clip from Vincent Morisset.
The single shares a title with the album, a double LP that is available for pre-order before its October 29th release date. Arcade Fire will also be the musical guest on this year’s season premiere of Saturday Night Live, hosted by Tina Fey.
