Brett Eldredge Puts Acoustic Spin on ‘Mean to Me’ – Premiere
Country singer Brett Eldredge first appeared on the Nashville scene in 2010, but the 27-year-old released his debut album, Bring You Back, just last week. The album inspired a video series of Eldredge performing acoustic takes on five songs from the LP, including “Mean to Me.” In the clip, the Illinois native appears at the end of a dock on a gray day, strumming his guitar while dressed in khakis and a button-down shirt.

In the video for “Mean to Me”, Eldredge appears at the end of a dock on a gray day, strumming his guitar in khakis and a button down shirt. “I think ‘Mean to Me’ has connected a lot live,” Eldredge tells Rolling Stone. “It always makes girls smile, and I love when girls smile, ’cause it makes me smile.”
Eldredge played to thousands of smiling girls over the past months, opening 19 shows for Taylor Swift on her Red tour. It seems he shares Swift’s propensity for romantic tunes.
“It’s a love song, a very personal one-on-one with a girl, telling her how much she means to you,” Eldredge says of “Mean to Me.” “It’s so hard to explain. It’s saying, ‘If I mean this much to you, imagine what you mean to me.’ Describing the feelings that a girl gives you, hoping that you are at least half as special to her as she is to you.”
