Batman Prequel ‘Gotham’ Headed to Fox
Before Batman, there was, well, a lot of crime in Gotham City, and only Commissioner James Gordon was there to fight back. He’s the subject of a new Fox series, Gotham, based on the character introduced in Detective Comics #27 – the same issue that first presented Batman.

The new show will focus on Gordon in the years before Batman, according to The Hollywood Reporter, which means the caped crusader won’t himself appear on Gotham. The show, which received a direct-to-series order from Fox, will be written and executive produced by Bruno Heller, showrunner of The Mentalist.
Gotham and Tina Fey’s as yet untitled new comedy with Matt Hubbard and Robert Carlock are the only shows to land a straight-to-series order from Fox for the 2014-15 broadcast season.
