MGMT Serve Up ‘Alien Days’
As if you’d expect anything less than outright bizarre antics from MGMT, the psychedelic electronic duo have come up with a suitably out-there new clip for “Alien Days” (off their latest release, MGMT). The video opens on a mystical scribe, played by MGMT’s Ben Goldwasser, who leads a Puritan couple (frontman Andrew VanWyngarden and model Camille Rowe) out to the woods, straps them to a giant gyroscope and sends them spinning.
Following a barrage of images including a bunch of goats, a blooming sunflower and dancing aliens, our innocent couple finds themselves with a child on the way. When Rowe’s character finally gives birth, though, it’s to a translucent turquoise orb, which Goldwasser promptly drops into a tube to unsettling results.

Along with “Alien Days,” MGMT recently released a clip for another MGMT cut, “Cool Song No. 2.” The video stars The Wire‘s Michael K. Williams as the Plant Hunter, a “new jack” thief who transforms genetically modified plants into drugs. The band also released a short film in anticipation of the record in which they dealt with an angry possum in the bathroom and found themselves being spied on by the NSA.
