One Dead, Five Hospitalized at U.K. Warehouse Project Show
One fan has died and four others were hospitalized after a show in Manchester, England featuring Axwell and Armand van Helden on Friday night. The BBC reports that local police suspect that a “bad batch of drugs” is behind the illnesses at the Warehouse Project.
Police were called to the Manchester Royal Infirmary early Saturday morning after a 30-year-old man who had attended the show died. “It is possible that there may be a particularly bad batch of drugs out there in the community and that is a concern to us,” Detective Inspector Aaron Duggan said in a statement on the Greater Manchester Police’s website. “If you attended The Warehouse Project last night and are feeling unwell, I would ask you to go to hospital for a check up as soon as possible.”

The Warehouse Project offered its condolences to the man’s family in a statement on its website. It also noted its zero-tolerance policy regarding drugs at the venue, but added, “However if you have taken something and start to feel unwell please tell a member of staff. There is a team of trained medics on site every night and you will be treated on the premises initially.”
Earlier this month, the New York dance music festival Electric Zoo was brought to an early close when two fans died and four others were hospitalized after taking what city officials suspect was a concentrated form of MDMA.
