Fun. Guitarist Writes Songs for Children’s Program
Fun. guitarist Jack Antonoff is lending his talents to the PBS children’s show Super WHY!, writing an album’s worth of material based on the theme “You’ve Got the Power!” The songs will appear in the program’s live tour this spring, Billboard reports.
“I produced and recorded the whole thing, and I must have written at least 15 songs,” he said.

This isn’t the guitarist’s first foray into children’s music either. He wrote the song “It’s Fun to Dance” for Nick Jr.’s Yo Gabba Gabba! (which has featured appearances and original music from a slew of musicians). Antonoff’s former band, Steel Train, also performed on that show’s live tour: “We played it on tour every night for thousands of little kids and it was a wonderful experience to do that,” he added.
The guitarist also noted his music dreams started with a high-profile children’s musician: “I grew up on Raffi,” he said. “That was my first impression of what a rock star was.”
Antonoff and fun. are currently touring until through October this year, making the possibility of new music much smaller. The band, however, did contribute a new song, “Sight of the Sun,” to Girls. Antonoff is dating Girls creator Lena Dunham.
“It’s wonderful, you know?” he says of having the band’s track appear in the show’s recent second season finale. “What could be better than working with people you love?”
