Ariana Grande to Perform at the 2015 NBA All-Star Game
Ariana Grande will perform at halftime of the 2015 NBA All-Star Game, set for Sunday, February 15 at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
The 21-year-old singer – coming off a breakout year that included a Number 1 album, four Top 10 singles on the Billboard Hot 100, a pair of Grammy nominations and plenty of cat ears – is just the latest diva to perform during the NBA‘s showcase of the stars, following in the footsteps of Mariah Carey, Rihanna and Beyoncé.
Grande is the first artist confirmed for All-Star Weekend, which features events at both at the Garden and Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. The league also revealed that Nico & Vinz will perform during the official All-Star Game practice session at MSG on Saturday, February 14. Events taking place in the borough of Brooklyn include the Taco Bell Skills Challenge, the Foot Locker Three-Point Contest and the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest.
Fan voting for the All-Star Game ended on Monday, and early results had the Cleveland Cavaliers’ LeBron James and the Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry leading the balloting in their respective conferences. Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans, Pau Gasol of the Chicago Bulls, the New York Knicks’ Carmelo Anthony and the Washington Wizards’ John Wall were also among the top vote getters.
Starters for both the Eastern and Western Conference All-Stars will be revealed January 22 (that’s tonight) at 7 p.m. ET on TNT.
