Dave Matthews Hitchhikes to Own Show
Dave Matthews got a firsthand lesson in the kindness of strangers (and fans) last weekend when he hitched a ride to his own gig. According to CNN, Matthews went for a bike ride before a Dave Matthews Band show in Hershey, Pennsylvania, when his tire popped, leaving him stranded.
“I did not have a cell phone on the bicycle. So I thought ‘shit’,” said Matthews.

Emily Kraus and her boyfriend were on their way to the concert when they spotted Matthews on the side of the road and pulled over. She offered the singer a ride to the concert and made small-talk along the way.
“We didn’t know how to make conversation with him,” she said.
Matthews expressed his gratitude by taking the couple to dinner, followed by inviting them backstage and later giving them front row seats to the performance. He also recounted the event while on stage.
Kraus says the whole experience was surreal, but that the experience was verified once she noticed that the singer had signed the pair’s concert tickets.
“Thanks for the ride,” read the message.
