Jeff Daniels Confirms ‘Dumb and Dumber’ Sequel on ‘Fallon’
Jeff Daniels gave Jimmy Fallon a thumbs-up and a smile when the Late Night host asked him if the long-rumored Dumb and Dumber sequel is on the way. “Well, I’ll believe it’s happening when I’m actually there staring at Jim Carrey, but it looks like we’re starting in September,” the actor said on Monday.
Excellently titled Dumb and Dumber To, the film’s future went into limbo recently when original studio Warner Bros. decided not to back the project, but Universal reportedly stepped in to produce it. Daniels (who currently stars in HBO’s The Newsroom) went on to confirm that original directors/writers the Farrelly brothers are involved and that the film should see release sometime next year to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the original.
“I’ve seen the script; it’s hysterical,” Daniels added. “We’re middle-aged; we’re not pretending we aren’t. We’re middle-aged and we’re still that stupid.”
