The Thermals Pare Down for Acoustic Version of ‘You Will Be Free’
Just in time for Memorial Day weekend, the Thermals strip down to deliver an engaging acoustic rendition of "You Will Be Free." The song appears in its original form on the Portland trio's sixth and latest record, Desperate Ground, produced by John Agnello (Dinosaur Jr., Sonic Youth). Drummer Westin Glass sits this one out, but he does turn up with singer and guitarist Hutch Harris and bassist Kathy Foster inside a photo booth during this video, which was shot inside the lobby of New York's Ace Hotel, in partnership with Bowery Presents and Martin Guitar. It's part of the Ace's new "5 at 5" series, which features acts performing five songs at at 5 p.m. in the lobby. Get a free download here of the acoustic version of "The Sword By My Side."
