Randy Travis Released From Hospital
Country singer Randy Travis has been released from Baylor Heart Hospital in Plano, Texas, where he had been in critical condition since he was admitted on July 7th. Travis, 54, has been transferred to a physical therapy facility to recover from congestive heart failure and a stroke he suffered while in the hospital that required surgery to relieve pressure on his brain.
“Thanks to all the fans and friends for your continued prayers and support as Randy continues on the road to recovery,” Mary Davis, Travis’ fiancée, said in a statement issued by the singer’s publicist.

Travis was taken to the hospital last month with viral cardiomyopathy, a condition that weakens and enlarges the heart. The singer was fitted with a device in his heart to help it pump blood on his own.
During his 35-year career, Travis has landed 16 Number One country hits and won six Grammys. He has also worked as an actor, appearing in The Rainmaker and on the TV series Touched By an Angel.
More recently he has drawn attention for run-ins with the law, including one last year in which police found him naked after he apparently crashed his car.
