Rick Ross: My ‘U.O.E.N.O.’ Lyrics Don’t Condone Rape
As criticism builds over Rick Ross lyrics that seem to condone rape on Rocko’s recent track “U.O.E.N.O.,” the rapper said he never meant to imply that in an interview with New Orleans radio station Q93.
Ross’s contribution to the song is the subject of a Change.org petition calling for Ross and other rappers “to be held accountable for the content of their music.” On the track, Ross refers to a form of the drug Ecstacy known as “molly” when he raps, “Put molly all in her champagne, she ain’t even know it / I took her home and I enjoyed that, she ain’t even know it,” but according to Ross: “It was misunderstanding with a lyric, a misinterpretation where the term ‘rape’ wasn’t used. And I would never use the term ‘rape’ in my records.”

In regards to the public’s reaction to the lyric, Ross said that outcry can be a good thing: “I feel like us being artists, that’s our job to clarify the sensitive things and the things that we know really need to be clarified, such as a situation like this.”
