TLC Bring Out Lil Mama for ‘No Scrubs’ at Mixtape Festival
A reunited TLC closed out their set at the Mixtape Festival last night with their 1999 hit, “No Scrubs.” To fill in for the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, Rozanda “Chilli” Thomas and Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins brought out Lil Mama, who plays Left Eye in the forthcoming VH1 biopic on the group.
According to Rap-Up, the group dedicated the song “Waterfalls” to Left Eye. “This song was true and dear to her heart and I’m sure it means a lot to you guys,” Chilli told the crowd before the song. “If you have a lighter or a cell phone, iPads, computers, whatever you got, light it up. This is dedicated to Lisa, to Left Eye.” The band recently caused a stir by releasing a 20th anniversary remix of the song with Japanese pop star Namie Amuro taking Left Eye’s verse.
